Joshua Michael Homme III is an American rock musician, multi-instrumentalist and record producer. He is the founding and only continuous member of the rock band Queens of the Stone Age, in which he sings, plays guitar and occasionally piano, and serves as the band's primary songwriter. He also was the guitarist and a former member of the stoner rock band Kyuss. He co-founded and occasionally performs with Eagles of Death Metal while playing drums for studio recordings, and continues to produce and release a musical improv series with other musicians, mostly from the Palm Desert Scene, known as The Desert Sessions. In 2009, he appeared in a new project called Them Crooked Vultures with Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones. Them Crooked Vultures released their debut album in 2009.In 1987, when he was 14 years old, Homme formed a heavy metal band with school mates John Garcia and Brant Bjork in Palm Desert called Sons of Kyuss (originally known as Katzenjammer, and then as Sons of Kyuss, which was then shortened to Kyuss after the release of their eponymous EP). Homme was the band's lead guitarist. The band garnered a cult following by the early 1990s. The band often drove for hours out to isolated locations in the desert and plugged into generators to perform, and these events, known as "generator parties" became urban legend among rock subcultureMy first tattoo, and I had a great experience here. Granted, I came in knowing exactly what I wanted, since I'd been sporting the temporary tattoo version of what I wanted for a few weeks to see if I liked it. I made an appointment, came in and everyone was very easygoing and friendly.
Gerald did my tattoo, and he was incredibly professional and explained everything along the way. He did the overlay, placed it on and asked me to take a look at it to see if the placement and design met my satisfaction. Before he started doing the actual tattoo, he read it back to me again just to confirm everything. I got the tattoo, it was quick and way less painful than I thought it would be.I will preface this by saying that I did not get a tattoo here. This review is based solely off the customer service.
I made an appointment to see one of their artists, Minka, who I had done extensive research on (they do have talented artists here). Went in for a consultation, left a cash deposit, badda boom, my appointment was scheduled for a month later. Didn't feel particularly warm vibes, but I wasn't judging.
The NIGHT BEFORE my appointment I get two voice mails from the front desk girl saying that my original 12:00 pm appointment would no longer work, and asked if I could come in at 2:00 pm instead.
I call them back, and my call goes to their voice mail box--and so I explain in a message that I only received their messages after I had gotten off work, and that as I had other engagements that day, I would need to reschedule my tattoo appointment to another day that month. Left my number, felt reasonably fine about the whole thing.
I get a call the day of my appointment at 3:00 p.m., saying that they never got a call back from me, and that the artist had been waiting for me for three hours. Oh, and that I had lost my deposit.
Never mind the fact that if they had rescheduled my appointment as they said, the artist would have only been waiting for one hour. Never mind the fact, also, that if they were indeed KEEPING my original appointment time.
I'm really disappointed about the treatment I was given here, and the fact that I lost my deposit because they couldn't get their scheduling straight.Thom DeVita began tattooing in the late 60s in New York's Lower East Side, when the practice was illegal. He quickly began to forge his own styles, drawing influence from Puebla Indian designs to Lord and Taylor shopping bags. In this episode, we hear from Ed Hardy, photographer Clayton Patterson, Nick Bubash, Scott Harrison, John Wyatt, Angelo Scotto, Bubba Reeves, Robert Ryan, and more, as we unfold Thom DeVita's epic story. Thanks so much for the opportunity to meet Thom De Vita yesterday! What an experience. I spoke to Thom and he encouraged me to continue pursuing my art and dream of being a tattooer. Again, thanks for putting that together. Also, I am a client at the LI shop but got my first look at the Bowery shop and it is really nice. I wish you continued success.
